XXIInd International Symposium on the Jahn-Teller Effect

Welcome to the Jahn-Teller Symposium 2014

The series of Jahn-Teller symposia started in 1976 (mostly biannual) and addresses topics involving the coupling between electronic and nuclear vibrational motion in molecules and solids. Jahn-Teller effect, pseudo Jahn-Teller effect, and related vibronic interactions are responsible for structural distortions and dynamics and play a role in the explanation of phenomena seemingly diverse such as structural phase transitions, colossal magnetoresistance, molecular magnets, superconductivity in fullerides, or chemical reactions after thermo- or photoexcitation.

We expect participants from physics, chemistry and materials science who are interested in the fundamental aspects of the JT effect.
